Description cyrano58 2005-10-05 21:41:42 UTC
I have attempted to install the release candidate 2.0 several times on my
Windows XP Dell system. During "Copying New Files" I recieve an Error 1304,
Error writing to file cli_cppuhelper.dll. Verify that you have access to that
directory.

I am the administrator and only user of this machine.

Help?
Comment 1 Olaf Felka 2005-10-06 09:55:44 UTC
I've tried to reproduce with the downloaded version from
http://ftp.stardiv.de/pub/OpenOffice.org/contrib/rc/2.0.0rc1/. I've tried on my XP:
- without installed '.NET' framework
- with '.NET 1.0' framework
- with '.NET 1.1' framework
I can't reproduce, no such error. Have you checksummed your downloaded file?
Comment 2 cyrano58 2005-10-06 17:57:01 UTC
I checked my checksums and all is AOK. I installed the stable version without a
hitch. Any suggestions as to how I procedd -- or wait for the next build?

Could I have a firewall or security issue? Seems unlikely.

jl->cyrano58: Do you have any anti virus software running?
Comment 4 cyrano58 2005-10-08 05:22:14 UTC
I am running MacAfee, latest version and updates. I did try the install with
Privacy and Firewall disabled but got the same result.
Comment 5 Olaf Felka 2005-10-12 09:30:28 UTC
I have no idea what went wrong on your system. We know about problems with a
running anti virus software but that's not true in your case. Do you have a .NET
framework installed on your system?
Comment 6 cyrano58 2005-10-13 03:35:36 UTC
I removed .net and everything worked just fine! I hate Microsoft.
Comment 7 Olaf Felka 2005-10-13 09:11:25 UTC
Looks like it depends on .net. As I have written, I've tried with 1.0 and 1.1
but can't reproduce. Maybe it depends on your local settings and configuration.
Comment 8 robdurk 2005-10-21 23:35:33 UTC
Same problem with Windows ME using the 2.0 full release.

Error reads: Error 1304. writing to file cli_cppuhelper.dll Verify that you
have access to that directory

Directory is, however, not specified.

Removal of .Net 1.1 appears to have solved the problem
Comment 9 Olaf Felka 2005-12-20 15:26:25 UTC
Not reproducible in general. Looks like a problem with .NET.
